I’m Sharon.

I’m the founder and main writer on Without Your Light. I wish that I had never had to start this site.

My amazing 14 year old daughter, Soraya, died on 18 February 2025 by suicide in our home in Melbourne. I never thought this would happen in our family.

I’m trying to learn to keep living with this humongous loss.

There is so much to deal with from my grief to my younger sons to the coroner to the organisations I hold responsible for this happening to my vivacious daughter.

I hope that by sharing about our loss and everything that comes with it that I can help you deal with yours or I can help you help others who have also suffered the death of a cherished loved one.

I also hope it can help us advocate for change in the health and education systems in Australia.
